BBC Worldwide agrees major content deals with NZ broadcasters

BBC Worldwide Australia has concluded significant content deals with New Zealand broadcasters TVNZ and Prime Television, it was announced today at Mipcom.

It has renewed a deal with Prime Television that will see upcoming series of multi award-winning Top Gear remain with the channel.

Top Gear is consistently Prime's highest-rating programme, and has aired on the network since 2004.

Meanwhile, BBC Worldwide has also concluded a major deal with TVNZ for new and returning drama, factual and factual entertainment programming.

New dramas included in the package include Whitechapel, a Carnival Films production for ITV, The Children from Tightrope Productions and Sleep with Me from Clerkenwell Films.

Returning series include the third series of award-winning time-travel drama Primeval from Impossible Pictures, the fifth series of New Tricks (S5) from Wall to Wall Productions, Hotel Babylon (S4) from Carnival Films, Mistresses (S2) from Ecosse Television, and Silent Witness (S12).

"Our content has always held wide appeal in New Zealand and it's great to see that continue with a line-up of such strong material going to TVNZ," said Robyn Campbell, BBC Worldwide's Sales Manager, New Zealand.

"Meanwhile Prime has made Top Gear the most recognised motoring entertainment brand in New Zealand, and has contributed to its massive global success. We couldn't be happier that Top Gear will remain with Prime."
