BBC Showcase Latin America brings landmark programming to new broadcasters in Paraguay, El Salvador and Nicaragua

 

BBC Worldwide Americas has secured three new sales of the BBC's landmark Emmy® winning natural history series Planet Earth to broadcasters in Latin America.

 

The latest broadcasters to sign up for the 11-part series are Canal 12 (El Salvador), Televicentro (Nicaragua) and Telefuturo (Paraguay). The new deals bring total Planet Earth sales to 15 in the region.

Announced today at BBC Showcase Latin America in Rio de Janeiro, these new deals once again confirm the series as the most successful Natural History title BBC Worldwide Americas has ever sold in Latin America.

 

Previous sales have included TVN (Chile), Globo (Brazil), Ecuavisa (Ecuador), Tele Doce (Uruguay), Canal 11 (Honduras), Canal 11 (Mexico), Señal Colombia (Colombia) and Teletica (Canal 7).

Filmed in HD, Planet Earth is one of the most ambitious factual series ever commissioned by the BBC.

 

A winner of four Emmys including Outstanding Nonfiction Series, the BBC/Discovery/NHK co-production was filmed in 62 countries, over 4 years, by the BBC's Natural History Unit.

 

The unit has been responsible for some of the most renowned natural history programming of modern times including The Blue Planet, Galapagos, Life in the Undergrowth and Life of Mammals.
