BBC Prime celebrates five years in Africa


BBC Prime, the great British entertainment channel, celebrates its fifth birthday in Africa on 4th March 2004. Home to some of the world's favourite series, the channel broadcasts a mixture of period and contemporary drama, comedy, documentary, music and children's programming to over 890,000 subscribers across Southern Africa on DStv.


As it heads into its sixth year, BBC Prime continues to set new standards with its daily schedule of celebrity interviews, gripping reality shows, award-winning drama and entertaining educational programming for children.


BBC Prime boasts some of the hottest talent in television today, including Michael Parkinson, Ruby Wax, Anne Robinson and Michael Palin. The variety of high profile programmes and celebrities has established the channel's widespread popularity in Southern Africa.

BBC Prime was first launched across Europe in 1995 and was made its debut in sub-Saharan Africa on 4th March 1999.
