Competitive Pricing Strategy Offered by BBC Worldwide

BBC Worldwide is leading the way in a competitive children's video and DVD market with an attractive pricing policy across all its new pre-school children's titles.

From 2004, the BBC's commercial consumer arm will offer its new pre-school video titles at £7.99 and its new pre-school DVD titles at £10.99. Properties included in the new pricing strategy include popular children's choices Balamory, Teletubbies, Tweenies and Fimbles.

Julia Posen, BBC Worldwide's children's video and DVD publisher says, "As a major player in the children's video market, BBC Worldwide is leading the way with a brave new pricing strategy which offers retailers a competitive edge and passes on significant benefits to consumers too."

BBC Worldwide offers best value to its customers through a number of initiatives including 'perfect partner' promotions, price campaigning and trade offers and this innovative new strategy reflects the company's commitment to consumers and the retail market.

The second Balamory video, Archie's Inventions, will be the first title to be released under the new strategy. The first Balamory video is a Christmas hit and has become BBC Worldwide's best-selling children's new release title for 2003. Almost 21,000 units of Adventures with PC Plum were sold in its first week on sale and this figure was sustained in the second week with sales of over 20,000 units.
