PRIME launches in Poland with local subtitles
Warsaw,
Poland: BBC PRIME launched in Poland yesterday with localised
subtitles.
Program,
the Poland-based channel distribution agency, has already secured
distribution agreements for BBC PRIME with a number of cable operators
including leading platforms MultiMedia and Stream. As a result,
BBC PRIME will reach over 225,000 subscribers in Poland at launch.
BBC
PRIME is now providing viewers with selected prime-time programming
subtitled in Polish. Localisation is supplied by TTL (Television
Translation Ltd) from London, working alongside local translation
company Master Film Ltd in Warsaw. Feedback/Hill & Knowlton,
based in Warsaw, are the PR agency representing BBC PRIME's interests
in this key market.
BBC
PRIME is celebrating its launch at an event in Warsaw at the University
Library, along with leading Polish celebrities, distributors, press
and opinion formers.

Launched
in 1995, BBC PRIME is the BBC's international entertainment channel
broadcast to Europe, Africa and the Middle East, via cable and satellite
to over 11 million subscribers in over 100 countries and territories.

relative to its distribution. The EMS 2002 survey showed that, in
terms of weekly viewership relative to 24-hour home distribution,
BBC PRIME ranks fourth among all Pan-European channels.

Top of the Pops, EastEnders, The Weakest Link and BBC LEARNING,
the BBC's unique overnight educational service, BBC PRIME shows
the best of the award-winning programmes from the BBC - the world's
leading programme maker. Offering English subtitles for programmes
including popular weekly drama series EastEnders, BBC PRIME also
transmits many of its programmes with subtitles in Hebrew, Danish,
Swedish, Norwegian, Czech and now Polish, (with other local languages
