BBC Worldwide brings Golden Jubilee to Cannes

In celebration of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee, BBC Worldwide brings new and wide-ranging documentaries and music programming to MipTV 2002.

Queen and Country (4 x 60'), pre-sold to TVNZ New Zealand, ABC Australia, ZDF Germany and RTR Russia, explores the different aspects of The Queen's role as Sovereign, Head of the Commonwealth and Head of State. This intriguing documentary sheds new light on how she has reacted to the constant shifts in the world around her; including interviews with leading international figures and never seen before formal and informal footage. Queen and Country is a Mentorn Barraclough and Carey production for the BBC.

BBC Worldwide also brings The Queen's Jubilee concerts to international buyers at MipTV. The BBC will stage two major music events in the grounds of Buckingham Palace in June this year - Prom at the Palace (1 x 125'), a classical concert, featuring performances from Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich and soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, among others. Party at the Palace (1 x 180') will include performances from Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Tom Jones, Sir Paul McCartney and Phil Collins. BBC Worldwide has received considerable interest from international programme buyers and expects to conclude a raft of deals at the market. It is anticipated the concerts will reach hundreds of millions of viewers around the globe.

Rupert Gavin, Chief Executive, BBC Worldwide said, "The Golden Jubilee is a unique milestone in the Britain's history and the BBC shall celebrate the occasion with landmark events and exceptional programming. BBC Worldwide is privileged to hold the international distribution rights to this programming and we anticipate forthcoming licensing deals will ensure the celebrations are received by the widest possible global audience."

Also in BBC Worldwide's special Jubilee Collection is the best-selling documentary film and winner of two Baftas Elizabeth R (1 x 75'or 1 x 107'), plus Britannia (1 x 60') and Monarchy (3 x 50') - now collectively sold to over 70 countries worldwide.
