Born 1874 - 1965
Local link Churchill was born at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock.
Achievements

He was a member of Parliament for more than 60 years.

Churchill played a considerable role in the eventual allied victory over Germany in the Second World War.

Although he was seen as a great leader who didn't give an inch during war, he was not thought of as someone to make a better Britain during peacetime.

Additional facts

Churchill received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1953.

His grave in St Martin's churchyard, Bladon is probably the most tourist-visited in whole country.

Sir Winston Churchill has been named the greatest Briton of all time in a nationwide poll.
