Name Matthew Pinsent
Born 1970
Local link Studied at Oxford University, rowed in the Boat Race in 1990, 1991 and 1993. Lives in Henley-on-Thames.
Achievements The four-time Olympic gold medallist confirmed his talent when he achieved something at the World Rowing Championships that even Redgrave had never managed.

Along with partner James Cracknell he won both the coxed and coxless pairs titles.

It was a stunning achievement as the two races took place just two hours apart.

The rower's Olympic golds and his seven World Championship golds make him one of Britain's most successful athletes.
