Showcase Cinemas
Redfield Way
Nottingham
NG7 2UW
Tel: 0115 986 6766
This is the closest cinema to the
Clifton Campus, so students residing there might want to check
it out. A large, comfortable multiplex including a small café
serving pizzas, hot dogs, nachos and other snacks perfect for
a trip to the movies. The 11 screens mainly cater to the larger
blockbusters, offering cut prices every Tuesday. Frankie and Benny's
restaurant, the local Megabowl and ISIS Nightclub are very close
by as all accompany the Showcase in the retail park location.
Taxis are always close-by and cost about £6 to or from the
Clifton campus.
UGC Cinemas
The Corner House 29, Forman St.
Nottingham
NG1 4AA
Tel: 0871 2002000
The Cornerhouse is a building that
plays host to a gaggle of fabulous bars, restaurants and of course
the popular UGC cinema complex.
This is an excellent cinema that is always brimming with students.
It has a great comfort factor; the screen rooms are extremely
cosy with great squashy chairs and plenty of legroom!
Always showing the best blockbusters and also known not to turn
it's head from smaller movies, this is a great place to catch
the flicks! However, might be worth booking ahead as it always
seems to be sold out at peak times.
Broadway Cinema
14-18, Broad St.
Nottingham
NG1 3AL
Tel: 0115 952 6611
Located in Hockley, this is Nottingham's
premiere arthouse cinema. Loved especially for its screenings
of independent films and frequented by students for it's quaint
atmosphere. A great place to go for a quiet night out to watch
a film and if you want to avoid the crowds.
Savoy Cinemas
233, Derby Rd
Nottingham
NG7 1QN
Tel: 0115 947 2580
Look out for the usherettes and
the half-time intervals at this cinema. The Savoy is a little
way out of town, but depending on where you're living in the city
this maybe the best location for you. Located on the edge of Lenton,
The Savoy steers clear of the crowds and has a very relaxed atmosphere
and although not swarming with cinemagoers, this is still a popular
spot with students. Being a slightly smaller complex The Savoy
shows the best of the crop: the best of the new blockbusters,
but also a selection of independent movies. The authentic experience
of a visit to the Savoy attracts movie lovers, as it's changed
very little in all the time it's been showing film in Nottingham!
Screen Room
25, Broad St.
Nottingham
NG1 3AP
Tel: 0115 924 1133
'The smallest cinema in the world'
boasts a tiny 'screen room' for your viewing pleasure of fabulous
short films and independent flicks. Also situated in Hockley,
the Screen Room offers a similar ambiance to Broadway Cinema (but
is alot smaller). There's no popcorn on the menu here - just coffee
and carrot cake. The Screen Room often shows short films each
week before the 8.30pm feature with the short changing weekly.
A great cinematic experience if only to say you've been to 'the
smallest cinema in the world'.
Please note: The above top five is not
the choice of the BBC.
