Hilarious anecdotes

Gervase Phinn continues to delight us with further stories from his days as a school inspector in another enchantingly funny book 'Head Over Heels in the Dales'.

It is a real pleasure to read the hilarious anecdotes one does get when working with children.

Gervase tells them with such warmth and wit, which only wets the appetite to hear more.

About the story

In this book the old characters are all there, the formidable Connie from the Staff Development Centre.

The snarling arrogance of Mrs Savage. The long drawn out wisdom according to Sidney and the Welsh wit of David.

We also learn about the mysterious personal life of their new colleague Geraldine.

There is a surprising turn of events as Harold makes an announcement to the team.

We hear about the events leading up to his marriage to the beautiful Miss Bentley and the home they purchased, in the idyllic Yorkshire Dales, not to mention the upheaval they had before moving in.

Will Gervase get a chance of promotion? That's the question on everyone's lips at County Hall.

Best of all though are the accounts of Gervase's meeting with the many children of Yorkshire and their innocent childish requests which Gervase writes about in a hilarious manner.

Commendation

Once you pick up this book you will not be able to put it down and I advise you to get your hanky out if you are like me and the tears fall when laughing a lot.

It is good to find such a touching and amusing read about everyday life without the trauma and heartache which is often portrayed these days.

I feel I know Mr. Phinn personally and I look forward to reading further anecdotes from him.
