I was living in Eglinton St from 1950 (born) to 1965. I would love to hear from anyone living in the street during that time, and that would have any photos etc.

I would be interested in seeing any old pictures of the Shankill that you may have been sent. Also, have you got a copy of the 'Up the Shankill' book by Paul Hamilton? write back and I can give you details. I can also put you in touch with other community workers who may have many additional pictures.

Hi Elizabeth,
I do hope your mother is well, whilst I don't have any photos I do have a question for you, would your mum remember Mabel and Jimmy Wright? I have been told they where from that area possibly the same street, they had a son Edward who was killed in WW2 only 19, but maybe mum will recall something.
Sorry I hope you dont mind this request but I am trying to track relatives there, and with any luck it may stir a few happy memories of your mums times there, take care krissy.

Hiya Elizabeth, How is your mother keeping?

I hope YP&M have no objection ... I posted a message on Belfast Forum asking members if they can assist with photographs of the Shankill Road area. I'm sure the Forum members will do their best to help find some old photos for you.

All the Best, Christopher.

Please, if anyone has any photos of the Shankill road, particularly old photos, from the 40's and around that time, I would love to give them to my mum, who left Belfast at the beginning of the 60's but always talks about it with such love. She is quite sick now, and I would love to give her something to remind her of her childhood. She is Maureen Logan and was born on the Shankill Road.

Many thanks to anyone that can help.

If you send your email address I may be able to send some photos

Hi
I just came across YP&M and I hope someone can help me.

I am 71 now. I left Belfast in 1954 to live in Australia and still have fond memories in places like The Old Lodge Rd. which ran along the rear of the Old Court House.

My Father & Mother had a sweet shop next to the Elephant & Castle pub which was on the corner of Florence Place. I know it is all changed now, so I would appreciate any help in obtaining some photos of that area, the Old Court House etc, the Shankill Rd., Wee Joe's and the Shank picture cinemas.

I was a Lamplighter for a while, I used to look after all the lamps, wind them up, replace their mantles all up the Antrim Rd. area. I also was an apprentice fitter at Mackies in Springfield Rd. Making Looms & Spinning Frames, I am willing to pay for the photos. I hope you can help me find a memory.

Sincerely John Close.
