Does anyone have any photos, or information, about
Coleraine's Manor House?
The Manor stood on the site
of what is now County Hall, Coleraine, and was still
standing in the early sixties when County Hall was
built. I have seen the architects' drawings of County
Hall, and the Manor and it's gardens are shown on these,
just to the rear of what is now the public carpark.
I would be very interested in anything that anyone
can tell me about the history of the site, the Manor
(In it's final form, and earlier) and what else stood
on the site before the County Hall was built.
The building demolished in the 60's would appear to
have been Victorian, but there must have been a building
on the site long before that.
I would really like to see any photos which anyone
might have.
Thanks in advance.

The Manor House was built in the grounds of the former
Coleraine Castle. The castle was built nearer to the
Waterside and the roadway beside the Waterside carpark
was known as Castle Lane. Later Jackson Hall was on
the site and then the Manor House. Photos are in local
publications such as Memories in Focus and The Bann
Disc. (see website of the Coleraine Historical Society

I believe it was some sort of medical centre in the
late fifties/ early sixties. I recall my mother taking
me there to collect cod liver oil, rose hip syrup and
a thick brown health supplement called Virol (?!). I
still take the cod liver oil!
