Dungiven, John Moore of Bovevagh. Page eleven

One of the many phone calls made during this your place and mine research into the family of John Moore was to track down Martin Moore, John's brother. Martin is the only remaining member of that family of ten brothers and sisters. Our final call was to visit him at his Limavady home.

Martin Moore

Is a very lively 93 year old and six foot tall. He was a mine of information about the family, and gave us many snippets of information which helped build the Moore family tree.

Limavady folk might recognise Martin as the one time owner of "The Glen House" , a public house on the outskirts of the town.

Martin had holidayed in Canada on a few occasions and had met his brother John over there.

He reminisced about their times as children in the Bovevagh area. And yes they used to play in the ruins of the old church, and in the summer, although still officially at school, they also used to miss lessons to help with the harvest on the nearby farms.

Samuel Moore (Martin's son) was with us when we were chatting to his father and it was Sam who then said he would take us to the church where several of the Moore family are buried.

Nearly there Sharon
