Children's Fermanagh - Page 5

(Extracts from a book written by 1st year pupils of Enniskillen High School in 1986)

Here's a poem written by one of the pupils. In the book it is written by hand, but this would make the download time rather long for browsers, so with permission here is a text version instead.

A FERMANAGH HOLIDAY

Fermanagh is a special place
To plan your holiday
And when I tell you what I know
I hope you'll feel that way.
It's lakes and islands are the best
No finer anywhere
With fishing boating cruising
And beauty to declare
We've got ther finest castles
Preserved for you to see
Each one's a work of genius
And steeped in history
We've parks and leisure centres
Where you could stroll all day.
And our famous Lakeland Forum
With many games to play
Why you could be Alladin (sic)
While down the steps you march
Into the magical chambers
Of the caves at Marble Arch
And if you come in August
There's no better time you know
To see our glorious harvest
At Fermanagh County Show
