Please find attached two photographs of the 1953 Coronation street party in Rushfield Avenue, South Belfast.

They may be of some interest to your regular viewers, and I anticipate that there may well be a treasure trove of similar photographs lying in dusty albums, which if collected and edited, would add another page to your already excellent web-site.

As your correspondents regularly attest your site is of particular interest to those expatriates like myself who are living on the other side of the world. I should add that I am one of the youngsters enjoying the party, at the head of the table with my back to the camera.

The young man looking directly at the camera is Jim Craig and the lad in the leather jacket is Eric Montgomery. The elegant older lady distributing the medals was Grannie Cochrane, a lady of impeccable poise and very much revered in the Street.

My very best regards.

Norman I was delighted to see these photos and rather shocked! I am "The White's" only grand-daughter - top right of the table with very large hair-bow. My mum Eunice White, sadly deceased, is the lady at the back of the photograph and my younger brother is bound to be there somewhere seated near to mum.

I remember you well - No 18. Hope Australia is your land of milk and honey!

Hello, I just saw the pictures that you posted. I now live in Vancouver, Canada and on a recent trip to belfast in Jan 2008, I was visiting Mrs. White and she showed me these photos. My brother David Livingstone and myself, Jack Livingstone, lived in No. 57 and are seated at the table. It was really nice to see these old photo's and wondered are there any more available? Thanks for posting these pictures. Jack Livingstone.

It was lovely seeing a photo of Nellie White, as Angela says still alive and a good friend of my aunt who lives in Fernwood Street, I was at a street party - don't remember it but still have the mug. The party was held in Somereset Street just across the road.

Hi, it is really nice to see these photos. I bought Number 25 Rushfield Avenue last year and was looking on the Internet to see if I could find out something about the history of my house. The photo above shows my house and the lady in the photo, Mrs White, still lives facing me and is a lovely lady. If you had any stories about my house I'd love to hear them. I hope that everything is going well for you in Australia. All the best, AW
