"Nature Search"

Spring is in the air for this archive choice.

daffodils

Lengthening days raise hopes of better weather and an end to winter. It's great to see signs of spring with daffodils, snowdrops and crocuses coming into bloom.

In 1982 David Erwin, for BBC Radio Ulster's "Nature Search", took to the slopes of Belfast's Cavehill to experience the natural world bursting into life again. In the company of botanist Paul Hackney, David enjoyed a woodland stroll through trees that were coming into bud. It also gave him the chance to appreciate in greater detail greenery such as willow, sycamore, elm and wild garlic, as well as 'town hall clock' Ireland's rarest plant. Listen to "Nature Search"
