'07 I'd many a great Friday night jiving to Dave
Glover's jazz bank at the the Belfast Tek hop in the
late '50s.
Wasn't Gloria Huniford his lead singer?

My late grandad, Sam Smith (aka Snicker) played double
bass with the Dave Glover showband in the late 40's
and early 50's. After he left he played with the Billy
White Trio on a saturday evening show on TV called Take
time for Music. Does anyone out there possibly have
a photo of either of these bands. i would dearly love
a copy if you do.

I work with Muriel Day... well her surname isn't actually
Day. She is such a lovely person, but i've only known
her a short while. I've seen the pictures of her back
in her hay-day and she is so pretty, and her voice is
amazing!

what has happened him. Please give him our regards Dorothy
& Carol.

Glover? He is my Father-in Law and has recently passed
away. I am looking for some photos of him in the band.

Congratultions to Muriel Day on being included on the
official CD and DVD to celebrate the 50th anniversary
of the Eurovision Song Contest ("Congratulations
- 50 Years of the ESC Vol. 1 1956-1980"). She was
the first woman to represent Ireland when she sang "The
Wages of Love" in Madrid in 1969.

I also remember Muriel from Canada. I was just a kid,
but she lived with us for a while in Canada. I still
have an old Muriel Day & The Night Squad '45, called
"Radancer". I'd love to say hi to her.

The Patrician Hall in Carrickmore Co. Tyrone was said
to be one of the most popular venues in the North for
showbands and other performers. If you have any stories
or info on this subject I would love to hear from you.
David Johnston - May 05
Anyone remember a singer by the name of Marlene Fox
who sang with Dave Glover for a while? She was my cousin
and I'm trying to get a photograph of when she was
with his band. Anyone help?

My father Stan Smyth played with the Dave Glover band.
He often recollects those times. He would love to hear
from anyone who remembers his time in the band.

This is a memory tripper. Back in the late 60.s I had
the privilige to work with Dave Glover when he presided
over a Talent show at the Astor Ballroom in Belfast.
I won that talent show and was offered a job to sing
with the band. But was unable to do that since I was
still in school. I did follow that path later. I went
on to perform on "Opportunity Knocks" with
a group based in England called the Idaho Showband.
Then later we were invited to perform on the "Stuart
Henry Show"up in Newcastle. The band members were
all from Northern Ireland. I ended up in USA and toured
several times along with Hal Roach, Tony Kenny, and other
well known talented Irish celebreties. So "thank
you" Dave .. Marie Frances (Branagh).. cousin of
Kenneths.. just kidding but you never know. Now living
in USA but still travelling back and forth to Belfast.
