I remember when I first saw that too. Most of my family,
including my grandmother and one of my uncles live in
the Portrush/Portstewart area. I myself live in Hampshire,
but my family and I would go there nearly every holiday
when I was younger.
Anyway, we were exploring the town, when my brother
noticed this sundial. It had quite a bit of graffiti
on it, and the tiles were cracked, but I still have
the photo my mother took of me, my brother and my fqather
smiling next to it.
Also, it's called a gnomon.

It's called a 'gnomon,' Brian. (See
the article on the Ballintoy Tide Clock.)
What's the technical term for that upright piece that
casts the shadow? Can't for the life of me remember
it. Do you know? Would make a good pub quiz question.
