For several years I have been been looking for Cloghogue
[Andraid] in upper toome, with no sucess Due to the
Kerr entry I may have found the place where my G G grandparents
Samuel and Martha Pickens are buried. If this is the
right place would like to here more about it.
Mrs. Marie Moceri - Apr '07 Is there any way that I can contact Marilyn
Armstrong Otterson from Bedford, New Hampshire in the
USA? I understand that she is researching her family
and one of the surnames is ALLEN. I know of someone
who had an ALLEN ancestor from Ballykeel.
I also have ALLEN ancestors that I would love to find
information on, but they were in Ballycraigy. The main
name is John ALLEN. I would like to hear from any present
day family members.
Mrs. Marie Moceri - Apr '07 I enjoyed reading about Ballymena. I'm just
learning about my irish heritage and it's very sad to
learn that many of the original buildings have been
destroyed. I hope someone has written a book about it's
hidtory. Please keep up the wonderful work you are doing
in telling people about these tpe of towns in Northern
Ireland.

hello to all ! I have been doing a family history
and came across your site. My greatgrama was born Mary
Foster Oct 4 -1864 at Cloghogue(Andraid) Parish Drummaul
(near Randalstown-Ballymena)to William Foster/Margaret
Small. Her uncles where Samual Foster and Joseph Foster
of Andraid. They where members of the old congrational
Presbyterian church in Randalstown. She married my greatgrandfather
Michael Kerr who was also born 1864 at Armagh(Carrowcolman-parish
clonfeacle) His parents were Michael Kerr/Mary Quinn.
My great-grandparents immigrated from Glasgow on the
ship 'City of Rome' in May of 1893 to Ellis island,NY
then in 1894 they went to Melita, Manitoba. Canada
then in 1905 to Indian Head, Saskatchewan.Canada. Mary
died in 1964 at the age of 100 years old. Michael died
in 1957. They are both buried in Regina, Saskatchewan,
Canada. I knew very little about them but can remember
talking to my greatgrama when I was a small boy and
that they were the only ones to come to Canada.I
am also the only male KERR carrying the name as it has worked out so I am doing
this history for my kids .They are Michael Kerr 23 , Trevor Kerr 16 , Justne
Kerr 15 , Tyler Kerr 12 and my wife is Cheryl. It has been real hard finding
info on my greatgrandparent as we knew very little
about them. My journey continues Sincerely Ray Kerr

I'm Stephanie Law and i am in second year and find this
website useful.
June, Aberdeen - March '05 Firstly, a big 'Well done' to the children
who contributed to this website! I came across this
site when I typed in Wray, Ballymena into 'google'.
I was looking for Wray's still living in Ballymena as
my Great Grandma Margaret (who was a Wray) lived in
Ballymena during the mid 1800's.

I am a past pupil from St. Mary's Primary in Ballymena.
I am now in my fourth year in St. Patricks and I am
doing coursework for English on "My Home Town".
I found this very helpful and I learned new things about
Ballymena which I never knew before. Tnx

My late father and living mother (95) came from the
townland of Crosshill, east of Ballymena. Mother attended
the Ballymena Academy in the 1920's. She came to Toronto,
Canada in March 1929 and dad, after coming to Canada
for the first time around 1923, came back to Ireland
for a short visit and then went to Australia for approximately
one and a half years. He returned to Canada in June
1929. He had uncles, aunts, and brothers in Australia.
They were married in Toronto, Canada on March 17, 1930. They were first cousins,
named HOEY. They've lived here since then.

A great wee article!
It's a shame though that St Marys is now closed - It
was a great school. When I went we would take the "country
bus" - and Jimmy the bus driver would pick you
up in the morning and drop you home on your door step.
I also remember quite well the Christmas parties in
the main school hall. It must have been quite a sight
for the parents - all these children streaming out the
gates with whatever presents we got - one year we all
came out with these yellow duck hats.
I happened to visit Mr Kearney before it closed when
I was back home for Christmas in 2006.
