GEOFF HARDEN
Tháinig
scoth na gceoltóirí as Béal Feirste agus thart timpeall
an Tuaiscirt le chéile ar na mallaibh faoi choinne ceolchoirme
in ómós do Geoff Harden. Bhí an cheolchoirm ar cheann
de bhuaiceanna d'Fhéile Cheathrú na hArdeaglaise. Ar na
ceoltóirí a bhí páirteach bhí At First
Light, Tommy agus Colum Sands, Rosemary Woods, Colin Reid, The McPeakes,
Barry Kerr agus Siobhán Skates. Iriseoir a bhí in Geoff
Harden a bhunaigh The Sunflower Folk club i mBéal Feirste le linn
na n-ochtóidí agus bhí dlúthbhaint aige leis
an Belfast Folk Festival fosta. Thar rud ar bith eile, bhí a chroí
istigh sa cheol. Insíonn Neil Martin do Lynette Fay cad é
go díreach a bhí chomh spesialta faoi Geoff.
Featuring performances from some of the finest musicians on the local
scene, the recent concert in tribute to Geoff Harden was one of the highlights
of the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival. At First Light, Tommy and Colum
Sands, Rosemary Woods, Colin Reid, The McPeakes, Barry Kerr and Siobhán
Skates were among those performing. Over 30 years, wherever good music
was played in Belfast, from grass-roots local level to the international
stars, you'd bump into Geoff Harden as organiser, journalist or simply
a fan. Neil Martin remembers an unsung hero.
