What is a residential trip?
What's it like going on a residential?
A residential is like an extra long school trip where you stay overnight - usually at an activity centre or accommodation where large school groups can stay.
It is an opportunity for children to spend a few nights away from home, take part in fun and challenging activities and develop new skills.
Activities often take place outdoors and can include things like rock climbing, canoeing and hiking.

Some residential trips include outdoor activities that you might not have tried before, like canoeing
For some children this could be the first time they've ever been away from home on a school trip, and can mean they feel a bit nervous or excited.
It is normal to feel a bit worried ahead of a big trip - chatting with a teacher, parent or trusted grown-up about how you're feeling might help to put your mind at ease.
If you're going on a residential trip this year we want to know all about it. Where are you going and what activities have you got planned?
What are you most looking forward to?
What advice would you give to other children who have not been on a residential before?
