Take That superfans from as far as Australia and Saudi Arabia have made their way to Sunderland for the band's latest stop.

The band are due to perform at the Stadium of Light later, but some fans have been queuing since the morning to get to the front first.

Tony Hamlyn said he made the trip to north-east England from Canberra because the band did not "tour Australia enough".

Lynsey Richmond, who also made the trip with Hamlyn, said: "As soon as we heard they were coming, so were we."

Atty Hussein, who lives in Saudi Arabia, said she had gone to every stop of the band's latest UK tour.

"I'm flying back to Saudi tomorrow night," she said.

"And then I'll go for a week and then I'll come back for Manchester and London."

She also recalled the time Gary Barlow had promised fans he would attend some of their major milestones in 2016.

"We campaigned for 263 days and then he turned up on my 40th," she said.

"Greatest day came on - 200 guests moved forward and I turned around and there he was behind me singing Greatest Day," she said.

Meanwhile Allison Ellis and Linda Russell, from Whitley Bay, said they arrived in Sunderland at 06:00 BST to get to the front of the gig queue.

Asked why they were such big fans, Ellis said: "They're just nice lads and they're not bad looking."
