New York City's coolest five-piece changed the face of indie music over a decade ago with their effortlessly hip style and their Stooges-esque big riffs. The 2001 debut album “Is This It” was indeed very much “It”, and was named Album of the Decade by NME.
Since then they've been through a lot of the usual uber-successful band stuff - but singer Julian Casablancas says they've turned over a new leaf and given up on Spinal Tap antics, and they have the new tunes to back it up too. Newly minted fourth album Angles is appropriately named as it's their most daring yet, with lots of unexpected directions.
