Your council tax bills have been sent out and if you are living in Redbridge or Waltham Forest you will have to pay more this year. Almost £32.80 pounds more if you own a band B house in Waltham Forest and £49.08 more if you own the same sort of house in Redbridge. The Leader of Redbridge Council says he regrets the increase, but believes it's still lower than most other London boroughs. Councillor Alan Weinberg said: "As a result of an extremely disappointing settlement from Central Government the task of setting a budget this year has been particularly challenging for my administration. The Council continues to face large financial pressures from new legislation, our rising population and inflation." In Waltham Forest the council tax was set by full Council on 22 February and bills were issued on the 12th March. Redbridge Council decided on the 1st March and bills hit homes on the 12th of the month. Both Councils expect their first instalments in April.
