Back
in 1982 I was Living in a Late Victorian terrace house in Long Eaton(Hemlock Avenue)
I only had one functioning bedroom that had a double bed and another single bed
tucked in the corner of the room next to the window onto the street. I had
just split up, relatively amicably, with my girlfriend but for the time being
she was still living in the house (long story..don't ask) One evening she
had a friend (girl) stay over. They went to bed in the double and I took my place
in the single. There were no curtains in the room so street lights and a bright
moon were shining in. I found myself staring over to the double bed area and
could see the friend (Deb) kneeling next to the bed as if in prayer...I stared
for a few seconds, blinked while my eyes adjusted , she was still ther so I called
out "Deb, you ok"..she responded "Yeah"..worryingly though
her response didnt come from the figure at the side of the bed but the far
side where she was sleeping. "Are you in bed" I asked "Yes
why" she replied...now I dont know if something in my voice had triggered
it but she sounded scared herself... "Could you put the bedside lamp
on please " I implored. "Why?" "Cos i think theres
something by the bed" By this time both her and ex g/friend were in a
flap and were thrashing around trying to find switch...I couldnt s! ee them only
heard them cos I was all the time still staring at this figure...the light eventually
came on and the figure was gone "Did you see it?" I asked, and explained
frantically what I'd seen. "No" they both replied cos they'd kept
their eyes shut out of fear...I had to spoend the rest of the night between them
in the double bed, as much to soothe my fear as theirs. I've tried to analyse
this and looked for explanations like clothes hanging casting shadows etc. but
there was nothing there that could've done it. I never saw that apparition again
but did have experiences in that house, though none as lucid and none as visible
manifestations. | | Paul

| My
husband who, it is safe to say, a cynic when it comes to the paranormal has just
experienced something he is having difficulty explaining. He was sat in the Centurion
pub in North Hykeham having a drink with his dad, when he looked over towards
an arch and saw what to him looked like a woman in a long nightdress and curled
under hair. When he looked back a second time which would have been less than
a second later, she was no longer there. When he returned home he was visibly
shaken. He had tears streaming down his face. I have never seen my husband cry,
not even after the birth of our child! He is struggling to comprehend what he
has witnessed. Do you have any similar stories or perhaps any history regarding
that particular pub? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. | | Simone

| My
wife and I used to run the Tally Ho, pub in North Finchley, London back in the
early 70's. It is an old coaching inn dating back many years. One night as we
were locking up, we both heard the sound of a baby crying in the basement. On
going down, we passed though a corridor which was freezing cold and made us both
shiver and feel spooked. There was nothing to be found. The next day we told a
customer about the incident. He later came back with a printed account of how
the landlord of the pub, in early Victorian times, had made a barmaid pregnant.
When she turned up with the baby and confronted the landlord, his wife took the
baby and threw it down the stairs into the basement where it died. This story
is absolutely true, believe me.

a night out on the 26 sept 2003 my partner and I were waiting for our taxi at
about 12.30 - 1.00am near the theatre royal, when for some unknown reason we looked
up and saw a bright light in the sky no sooner had we noticed it, it moved at
speed first to the left , then right then went upwards and disappeared. | | S

| I
have lived in Lincoln since the age of 4 and can say that I have seen a number
of ghosts in the Lincoln area. I have seen monks in the cloisters of Lincoln Cathedral
and a man hanging from a tree at R.A.F. Scampton. In 1988 while waiting outside
H. Samuels jewellers during one busy saturday afternoon I saw a woman in turn
of the century clothes walk up the high street oblivious of the crowds around
her who also didnt seem to notice her. My most recent sighting took place while
driving home on a sunny Easter Monday in 1999. I was slowing down to turn off
Mill lane to the Kings Meadow estate in North Hykeham when I notices a man dressed
in 1920's clothes with his collar up as if he was walking through a strong cold
breeze walking towards South Hykeham. These are just a few of the events i have
witnessed and is the absloute truth.

| In
our school a lady called May Sharp had a heart-attack in the girls toilets 100
years ago, then she ran into the library and died ,now she haunts our school at
day, thank god for me i love ghosts and my mate! | | Michael |
After
the death of my father a couple of years ago I feel I can now recount some of
his, and my sightings of ghosts in the county. Some people are sceptical of ghost
stories and as far as I know father told no one of his sightings, except
my mother and myself. During the early fifties my father worked as a gyro tiller
driver. This machine to the inexperienced is basically a rotating plough
on the back of a large crawler tractor. Many of the old air force bases had been
abandoned and were being torn up by gyro tillers to reclaim farmland. It was while
being employed at this task that father came into contact with two, what I can
only describe as ghosts. The first sighting occurred at Ludford on Girsby lane,
it was usual practice for the gyro to work 24 hours 12 noon until
12 midnight on one shift, 12 midnight until 12 noon on the other. It was while
travelling to relieve his partner at midnight that he came across someone walking
towards him down Girsby Lane. At first he thought it was his mate coming to meet
him having broken down, as they came closer together father could see the apparition
was wearing full flying kit inc helmet and parachute. My father thinking it may
be a joke called out a cheery " good evening" as they passed on opposite
sides of the road, "good evening" came a reply, my father turned around
seconds later to see the apparition disappear before his eyes. The
second sighting was also at Ludford whilst ripping up the main runway, as much
time was spent looking behind the machine as looking to see where he was going.
On one occasion he turned round to see an airman walking straight towards the
machine once again in full kit, the apparition walking right up to the machine
before disappearing. During
the early seventies we lived at Stainton le Vale in the heart of the Lincolnshire
wolds [an abundance of ghost stories from here abouts]. It was my habit, as it
was for many young independent chaps to stay out till all hours, some times
not arriving home until 3 or 4 in the morning. It was on one of these late drives
home that I was confronted by some dim lights heading towards me in the middle
of the road. at first I thought they were cycle lights, I then realised they were
going at a fair old speed and pulled right over to the side of what was a very
narrow road. Imagine my suprise when an old convertible car came roaring past
hood down and four aircrew in leather flying jackets aboard. I was by this time
stationary and jumped out of the car to see if they had made the tight corner
behind me, there was no sight or sound of them, my hair stood on end and I never
went that way home again in the dark. In
1978 we moved from Stainton le Vale to Snarford Manor, this was an old farmhouse
dating back to the fifteen hundreds. From the first day we moved in I felt there
was a presence of some kind, usually in October I found strange things happened.
The first time I was awoken for no reason, there was a full moon and I got up
to look outside why I will never know, I thought I saw a man in period dress stood
in the garden, later I put this down to a dream. The next time I had to go to
the loo in the night, to get to the toilet I had to go down a short corridor with
no light down it ,I left my bedroom light on and the door open. Half way down
my bedroom door closed and I was in total darkness, I could not find the toilet
door, as I got more agitated the bathroom door opened and the light was switched
on by who or what I cannot say. The next year about the same time I was awoken
by someone shaking me, I opened my eyes thinking it was mother and I was late
for work. There stood at the bed was a glowing figure of a nun smiling at me I
closed my eyes for some time, opening them to see she was still there, please
leave me alone I said quite firmly at which point she disappeared. The next morning
when I went down for breakfast Mother asked what was wrong, I must have looked
peculiar or something. As she carried on with breakfast she asked if I had
seen something, dont worry she said it wont hurt you. Some time later [years]
the house was being renovated and the builders found a monks hole! | | Rod |

This
was an email passed on to us by Dave Wharmby and the Bassetlaw Ghost Research
group. It relates to their visit to Lincoln Castle in March.
I've just been looking at the Lincolnshire website and in particular the
page about your groups night at Lincoln Castle.
I was listening to one
of the recording of Sandy Sinclair at the Cemetery where the convicts were buried.
She mention a tavern and three brothers. I have a great, great, great
uncle called Henry Carey who was hanged on Cobb Hall in 1859. He had three brothers,
Joseph (my great, great grandfather), Samuel and William.
One night
in March 1859, Henry Carey another man called William Pickett were drinking with
William Stevenson in the Ship Inn at Sibsey Northlands. William Stevenson, left
the Inn to walk home. Carey and Pickett then left and got in front of William
Stevenson, they robbed and killed him.
Both Carey and Pickett were picked
up the following day and sent for trial at Lincoln. The trial last just over a
day. They found were found guilty and sentenced to death.
Henry's, brothers
Samuel, died at Sibsey in 1864. Joseph, was transported to Australia in 1867 and
died there in 1910. William went to Canada sometime between 1874 and 1877.
It would have been most interesting to know where Sandy was standing in the
Cemetery. | | Richard

| Did
you know Cromwell's Roundhead soldiers were seen to be marching along the Main
Road at Saltfleet one late night. It is said Cromwell often stayed in Saltfleet
when chasing Cavaliers which were strong in the Marsh areas. He supposedly had
a mistress there and may have stayed at the Manor House opposite the New Inn at
Saltfleet. | | Steve

| While
visiting my daughter and family in Gloucestershire recently, I slept in a newly
formed room in their new extension to a 17th century cottage in the Cotswolds.
I was awakened by a hissing noise as if someone or thing was blowing into my left
ear. I felt my whole head tingling and my hair standing on end. I wasn't really
frightened, but felt it odd to say the least. When I told my daughter in the morning,
she said she would fix it by dowsing the spot. Sure enough the rods moved over
that particular spot. She then spoke to the spirits or their energy and told them
they had to move on as they weren't needed there any more. She explained that
these energies could be there for centuries trapped and not knowing why they were
there or who they were, but are now released to go on their way. My daughter heals,
and clears negative energies from areas that need cleansing. It is a very common
occurrence when she Feng shui's property. | | David

| I
am not very knowledgeable about such things but i have now had two experiences
which I find hard to explain, with evidence of others having the same type of
things happening to them. It started approximately 6 months ago while stopping
at my boyfriends house. It was early morning (5.30 am-ish) and he'd left early for
work. I fell into a light vivid dream (usually i do not remember dreams), in
the dream my boyfriend was telling me about strange things happening in the house
and not to worry if anything happened ( we had not discussed these things previously).
During this vivid dream i began to feel very heavy to the point of it waking me.
At the point of waking i could see the room clearly including the clock which
read 5.45 am however i still felt the heaviness and i was unable to move or speak.
This continues for approximately 5 seconds. Thinking it was just the end of a
weird dream i turned over and went back to sleep, not at all fazed. On my boyfriends
return i mentioned my dream, expecting him to smile and brush it off but instead
he confided he had simlar experiences since living in the house (over a 3 year
span) and they occurred every 4 - 6 weeks. As well as these visits he mentions
door being unlocked on arrival back home after i witnessed him locking them on
the way out and being locked when i tried to go home ( when the only way it can
be locked is with a key which we had on us) etc. Since then i have been aware
of cold spots and shadows in certain places in the house which i put down to an
over active imagination. However last night while staying there i had another
encounter which worries me more. At 4 am i was again in a light sleep as i can
remeber the dream (this time not related to the event) when i awoke to a sensation
which i would discribe as a violent shaking sensation to the left side of my
chest, followed by the feeling of energy in that part of my body. This went after
approximately 15 -20 seconds, then although i was slightly shook up, everything
returned to normal. | | Claire |

and my partner one night came back from Boston late at night. We both smoke so
we decided to pull in a layby near Ruskington and make a cig. There was hardly
any traffic about at that time of the night so it was fairly quite. We both sat
there quite, saying nothing to each other, when we both experienced a strange
sensation. It was like you was struggling to breathe and your chest felt tight.
It felt like you was being strangled by an invisable hand. It eventually wore
off and we both sat there amazed, looked at each other and drove off quick. We
did a bit of research and in the olden days they used to hang slaves all round
that area, that's why its called Ruskington Horrors. | | Joe |
| One
night about six years ago i was looking at the moon through a telescope when
i paned left and went off the moon and what should come up but a flying saucer
it was stationery and must have been over a hundred miles up because it was about
10 30pm and lighting up time was about 4 30pm and it was in bright sunlight my
mind would not take in what i was seeing so i went back to looking at the moon
.The next day i saw in the paper that a girl in London had been looking at the
moon and had seen some lights in the sky near the moon at about the same time
but she would not have been able to see the saucer as she was about 100 miles
south of me Another time i was staying at snettasham beach Norfolk when again
i was looking at the moons craters and noticed a crater that had a blue colour
in and around it as you know there should be only one colour on the moon and that's
grey any ideas? | | William
