I went to the first poacher in 1977, aged 14 yrs. My best memory was when everyone made a band, and marched around the site on the Wednesday, using kitchen pots and pans. In 1982 I went on the catering team, Never peeled so may spuds. Now my daughter is going on her first Poacher camp in 2008. What memories !!

I went to the first Poacher in 1977 as a Scout. My son is looking forward to his first Poacher in 2008. It makes me feel old that that I was a founder member of his cub pack and at the first Poacher. This is esp true as today is the centenary of scouting and it was just 70 back then. I got bored of scouting at 15 which looking back is a shame

I first went to poacher when i was 12 in 2000 on red dwarf. I went back in 2004 on superheroes and at 16 i was probably the oldest person still doing activities. Hello to hannah, jenny, katie, rachel, zoe, kat, ben, richard and ben. I am definitely going in 2008 and i may lie about my age so that i can do the activities. Many thanks to my guide leader, judy, who first introduced me to poacher iwill be forever in your debt!

Charlene Stead -

Crikey this brings the mists of time swirling round my feet. I went to Paocher 82, sub camp Otter (only recently found the T-shirt again, alas too small now!!). Had a great time, the best thing for me was meeting up with a bunch of Guides from Ireland, Dun Lairee (spelling?) near Dublin. I kept in contact with two or three for several years after, Erica hello if you read this. The camp was great fun, loads of activities and the disco on the last night played 'Come on Eileen' (dexys' midnight runners) several times. Wierd what you remember. I lived only down the road in Nettleham 5 miles away but remember swapping unit / area badges with folks from all over the country and beyond - still have them. How great it is to see that over 20 yrs on the jamboree (do they still call it that) is still being enjoyed so much.

Louise

Nice to see that Poacher is still going! I was at Poacher 1988 where the entire site came down with a water-bourne ‘bug’ that caused the site to be closed early due to everyone not being able to be more than two foot away from a toilet! However, it was a great experience and a fantastic thing to be a part of.
