Disappointing result, certainly two points dropped. Carlisle came for a draw, and fair play to them, they got it. It was a frustrating match with Duffield hitting the post and Angel blasting over from a couple of yards. I still think we'll survive, the other sides are relying too much on luck (Exeter last minute goal) whilst we have the quality. Thommo and the team need our backing now, so let's make York Street a fortress and lets get the 4 or 5 wins that we need. Come on United, if we survve this year we can build up and on, Come on you Pilgrims!
Seb from Boston

Eve of tomorrow's crunch tie with Carlisle. The Cumbrians will be in bouyant mood after making the LDV Vans final. I think that we'll win, 2-0 possibly and I'm tipping Duffield to get our first, he's due a goal, especially against a team that conceded 5 to Hull! I hope to see Angel in the starting line-up and think that 46-48 points will be enough to stop up. With games against Rochdale, Darlington, Macclesfield, Southend, Orient, Hull, Wrexham, Rushden, Torquay, Carisle, Cambridge and Shrewbury, I think we can get the 4 or 5 wins required and hope to build on this season. I think a higher finish and no relgation fight next year is definitely possible. We look solid now and have the men to score us the goals, if we add a bit more strength and Redfearn continues we'll push the best for the Play-Offs!
Seb from Boston

Fantastic result for the Imps on Tuesday. The commentator on BBC Cleveland nearly choked as the 3rd goal went in! You might also be interested to note that the Northern Echo claimed Lincoln used "spoiling tactics", i.e, we didn't just roll over & let HUFC win (this seemed to be the basis for Chris Turners outburst after the game at Hartlepool as well). These opposition managers who criticise the Imps don't seem to realise this only acts as an incentive for us - so good luck to Leroy & Torquay for their end of season visit! Well done to Keith & everyone at Sinny Bank.
Durham Imp

what a game on tuesday at sincil bank!!.super imps finally win at home after numerous draws.peter gain is starting to consistently show he is one of best midfielders in div3.praise the man big keith and gary simpson for giving us a team of hard working players. PLay off still possible up the imps.
Gaz from Lincoln

Decent point for Boston tonight considering the sendings off. Make Saturday's game at home to Carlisle all the more crucial - I think a win and we're almost there. I think 42 points should be enough to stay up. Why play Simon left wing when Mark Angel is left on the bench - if he was fit (and he should be after suspension) why wasn't he playing - he's the one player we've got who can carve teams open on his own.
Rich from Boston

Disappointing result for Boston United today. We mustn't get too down though, Tommo said after the Scunny match that we shouldn't get too carried away with a win, and too downhearted with a defeat. We need to regroup and build on our recent run, starting at the Vetchfield on Tuesday. If we get some of the players back, we have got an horrendous injury list, then we will survive. Four more wins are required to survive, I'm completely confident we can get them, lets get behind the boys to beat the Swans and Cumbrians!
Seb from Boston

Lincoln City have been on Level terms at half time in 18 games so far this season - they've gone on to gain 32 of their 49 points in those games, and have only lost 3 of the 18 matches where they were drawing at half-time, so no one can really critise the team. they've only scored four times in the last five minutes of a game this season - and only won once in the ten games where they've conceded a goal first, so a Draw isan excellent result!!!!
Nigel, a City fan

im from grantham but im a wrexham fan and at uni there.ive travelled to boston twice this sesaon for two abandoned games!i hope boston stay up cos it will be great for football in that area-and for lincolnshire football in the main.well done neil thompson Gingerbreads get it sorted-or it wil be doc martens midland league again!!!!!!!!! we are a better team than the one which lost to stafford and worcester. attendances are still poor though at the fortress meres!
David Jones from Wrexham

United are on a terrific run of form at the minute and it's about time that the man who's masterminded this run gets some credit. Neil Thompson has stuck to his principles throughout, has acted very well under extreme pressure and the team's playing magnificently, members of Spayne Lane were compelled to sing 'It's just like watching Brazil!' All his signings have been astute and the team is gelling together to form an impressive unit from back-to-front. Just rewards for Neil's excellent work throughout the season. Hope we can keep Paddy in our defence and beat Oxford at the Kassam this Saturday, our record against play-off teams, has in general, been very good, we've dispatched of Rochdale, Scunny, Kiddy, Torquay, Lincoln and York. COME ON UNITED!!!
Seb from Boston

Fantastic display from Gainsborough Trinity - ok so we beat Hyde who are bottom of the league but it was an assured performance and places Trinity in 11th place in the table. If we can keep it going a top 6 spot is on and next season it would be great to push for the conference. Only 5 point seperate the next 6 positions in the Unibond Premier so it is all to play for. Goals for Trinity were : Luke Staton 39 Grant 34 Grant 73 Grant 74 Lee Ellington 54 and for Hyde: Lee Evans 71
David from Gainsborough

Hi every one my name is Garry Read i come from Boston now live in Perth Australia but i follow Boston all the time and now i think they are starting to do well and i would like to start a fan club over here in Australia has the team im involve with over here they play in Boston cous so is there any one out there who could help me thanks keep up the good work Boston Garry Read
Garry Read from Australia

I am glad to see boston are reaping the benefits for their performances. It has been a long time in comming and I am sure that it will not be too- little too- late. We have on many occasions outplayed the top teams in the league and thanks to the draconian referees that we have had on numerous occasions, have suffered badly from dubious decisions. On the point of referees, it would seem that many of them have a 'school boy' acumen, often punishing just men, unjustly. Good luck for the rest of the season, lets bring out the 'Spayne Road Massive' tonight. Up the pilgrims!
Delinquished Dave from Boston

Being a supporter of all Lincolnshire teams but in particular a Boston supporter I have been reading the comments on the message board regarding the great FM/AM debate. I have read the comments made by Micheal Hortin with regard to this decision and would like to make the following observations. With regard to consistency and confusion.

It is consistant to commentate on all away games for both Boston & Lincoln on FM and this does not cause confusion. In Boston where I live the reception is very poor and I have to decipher between the magnificent Scot Dalton and some other commentry from another obscure station. Where my daughter lives in the Boston area she can't receive Radio Lincolnshire on MW at all.

With regard to the major financial outlay. I am sure the supporters of both teams appreciate the efforts of Radio Lincolnshire but surely there is no added expense in transmitting away matches for both teams on FM. Finally if all decisions made by Radio Lincolnshire are open to constant review now is the time to review this one!!
Roger from Boston

I'm having great difficulty in picking up the Boston commentry on medium wave and cannot understand why Boston is on medium wave when Lincolns home matches are put on FM. Surely it would make more sense to put the away matches on FM and away on Medium Wave. If you were a true supporter you would be at the home matches anyway??!! Up the Pilgrims!! Hope to here more games on FM.
Hayley from Boston

Well Done Thommo and Boston United! Another clean sheet, another good defensive performance and a professioanl away performance. Redfearn was again inspirational and with Duffield, Logan, Douglas, Town and George we have real firepower to add to our solidarity. Lets get behind Thommo, who has been thoroughly professional throughout the campaign and lets see United beat Wrexham and Kidderminster at York Street and go onto survive the drop and prepare for the title of surprise team of next year!
Seb from Boston

What a result, when it said 5 minutes injury time it was unbearable untill Douglas made it 2-0. 5 goals conceeded in 10 games and 16 points in that period, just imagine if we had held out at Bournemouth, that could of been 3 on the bounce. Full credit to the defence as long as we can keep it tight and not conceed we will surely finish outside the bottom 2, please pass on my congratulations to the team on a superb vital 3 points today.
Steve Killick

ANOTHER BOSTON WIN, COME, NOW'S THE TIME TO GET BEHIND THEM LETS SEE YORK STREET FULL ON SATURDAY,AND COME ON DES WOODS LET SEE SOME LOWER PRICE INCENTIVES FOR THE REST OF THE HOME GAMES (I NOTICED THAT YOU HAVE LOWERED THE KIDS PRICES).WHAT WAS THE RECEPTION LIKE ON MEDIUM WAVE WHAT I HEARD FROM THE LADS IN SPALDING, IT WASN'T TO BAD FOR A CHANGE
Andrew from Spalding

Re: MW Coverage. It is obvious that with the exception of Scott Dalton all the sports team are chimps fans, but the decision to give FM coverage to Lincoln home games is rather strange.   Perhaps like me Lincoln fans don't like to go to Sincil bank ???
Andrew Gosling

I have read and heard the comments about `Frequency Gate`, and must admit that I do think it is strange to have Lincoln on FM and Boston ao AM, I know that where I live the coverage on AM is poor, surely how many people are going to listen to Lincoln at home, compared to Boston away at Exeter?? If it is the role of the BBC to cater for the needs of the listening public, then they have made a poor decision in this case. I applaude the coverage that is now given by the BBC, but this seems a backwards step, the use of FM on away matches seemed to be a successful one, If it aint broke, why fix it? As license payers and therefore the `Breadwinners` of the BBC, surely our views need to be taken seriously. If there is no biase towards either club, then they should prove it. ts a poor business that doesnt listen to its customer, and I havent heard one person say its a good idea. Dont damage the good work you have done, by enduring with one poor decision.
Dave from Boston

I'm not one for message boards on the internet, but as a local football supporter of many years standing, of both Lincoln City and currently a season ticket at Boston United, and travel to Sincil Bank to see City on occasions, I am surprised that the only way now to listen to Boston United in of the crackly old Medium wave, which, well, let's face, could be a lot clearer at times. Why not put the away team on the FM frequency, and the home on MW. This way the proper supporter can attend their favourite team at home, and when they are away can sit at home next to their stereo, if not attending another match! Surely this would be fair to all local supporters? Having said that I am not here to complain about the coverage up to now, I think Radio Lincolnshire do a great job! Look forward to hearing the alternative argument to this, personally, I don't really see one.
Tony from Boston
We passed this message on to Michael Hortin, the Sport Producer for BBC Radio Lincolnshire and this is what he has to say on the subject:

"Having come from a position just over three years ago when we did no commentary at all, of any clubs, I can assure you with the amount of money invested the decision was done with great care.

"The principle reason was for consistency and to avoid confusion. As regards medium wave we have tested the reception over the last week or so and it is fine. Infact where I live in the county medium wave is more than often better than the FM reception. Infact most of the radios in my house are tuned into 1368mw.

"Having done more than 50 commentaries of United since the Doc Martens Days personally I remain committed to the Pilgrims. The decision to double the commentaries we do of the club, which involves a major financial outlay for my boss, is an example of that. Like all decisions what we do will I am sure be open to constant review"

Micheal Hortin, Sport Producer, BBC Radio Lincolnshire.
