Captain Roger Steven-Jennings (46) from Plumstead, Cape Town joins Cape Town Clipper from a distinguished military background and is set to bring a wealth of naval experience and leadership skills to the city’s yacht. Roger is currently serving in the SA Navy and is the Naval Harbour Master at Simon’s Town; he will take an 18-month sabbatical, approved by the Chief of the SA Navy, in order to take on the challenge of the Clipper 2002 race.

Commenting on his appointment, Roger said, 'As a South African, I will take great pride in representing Cape Town around the world as our racing yacht takes on the other international cities. As a competitive skipper, I will take even more pride in winning the race for my home town.
