BlastYou are in: Hereford and Worcester > Blast > Point4 opens in Hereford ![]() Point4 opens in HerefordBy Sarah Waldron, sport Blast reporter A new Herefordshire training facility has opened, supporting local olympic hopefuls... My life of a top athlete is a test of both mental and physical strength. For certain I experience plenty of highs from my sport, which purely serve to fuel my hunger for success. I love the feeling of pushing my body to see how far it can go, and, whilst at the time I'm hurting, I love the sense of achievement in knowing that I'm one step closer to my dream. However, there are of course other times when I just feel rubbish - having a bad training session is deflating when I give everything to my sport. Focus for 2012On a more positive note, I've just returned home after completing my degree at Birmingham University and at last I feel I can focus my attention on my career as an athlete/journalist. I want to make the start line in London 2012 and beyond that I want to make the 2016 Olympics. I'm very ambitious and probably slightly mad, but I know what I want - that's to be a competitive marathon runner and to complete an Ironman. ![]() Sarah Waldron interviewing at Point4 Olympic hopefuls facilitySo, as you can imagine, when I heard that a new multi-million pound sport and fitness complex had opened in Herefordshire, providing world class facilities for 2012 hopefuls, like most other people I was truly gobsmacked, but very, very excited. The new development 'Point4' is situated just across the road from the Royal National College for the blind in Hereford and provides a friendly environment for athletes like myself to train and relax in. It's also open to members of the public and students. last updated: 10/08/2009 at 11:11 SEE ALSOYou are in: Hereford and Worcester > Blast > Point4 opens in Hereford |
