A Tranquil Place for Leominster

BBC H&W work has started creating a nature-friendly green space in Leominster. It's part of the BBC Breathing Places campaign.

Work is now well under way on Tranquil Place, and what fun we're all having!

Leominster

The Leominster site

Already, the site is looking so different and Angela Pendleton's plans are all starting to come together.

Local companies have been so generous, with donations of items ranging from 30 tonnes of hardcore, to wood, turf and trees - some have even volunteered their workers to help us out.

Leominster Rotary, The Marches Housing Association and Steve Fletcher and his boys from Green Fingers have been wonderful, getting stuck into moving heavy wet earth, helping lay membrane on the path and raking the hardcore.

BBC Children in Need's Pudsey dropped in to see the work and give us some support, and cameras from Midlands Today came along to film, so you may see us on television very soon!!!

We're working against the clock, so that we can be finished for our grand opening on Sunday 8 June, when everyone can come down to take a look.

Plan for garden in Leominster

The plan for Leominster

We'll have things of interest to all the family there, including flights by Birds of Prey, the Herefordshire Action for Mammals, and a nature trail for the kids to have a go at.

Come along and bring a picnic... it's beautiful down here alongside the River Kenwater, and we'd love to see you between 10am and pm2.

BBC Hereford & Worcester's Katie Johnson will be here broadcasting LIVE into Malcolm Boyden's Sunday Morning Show.

If you think you may be able to offer us some help in any way, please give me a call on 01905 748485.

It's tough work, but great fun!!!
