There are many things you can do about your image and outlook. Meg Hanlon from Colour Me Beautiful has these top five tips for looking and feeling better about yourself: 1 Positive thinking We all have a natural tendency to think about what we don't like about ourselves. Train yourself to focus on your good points instead – if you can't think of any, ask a good friend what they like about you. 2 Put your face on Make-up was invented for a very good reason! Highlighting, disguising and improving your outlook no end. Get into a routine in the morning when you get dressed to apply some make-up too – it only takes a few minutes and will set you up for the rest of the day. Men need not feel left out here – a clean shave can make all the difference. 3 Update your hairstyle If you're not in the habit of regular haircuts and style changes then it could be a good time for a new look. Ask friends for recommendations if you need a new hairdresser. Look through magazines and cut out pictures of hairdo's you like to show your stylist. 4 Don't make do Only ever buy and wear clothes that make you feel great. Don't buy anything on impulse just because it's a bargain, especially during the sales. If you've tried it on and it suits you then go for it; if you haven't or it doesn't then walk away! 5 Love yourself You are one of a kind. Learn to be comfortable in your own skin. By all means look for inspiration from your role models and learn from them but don't compare yourself to other people. There is nothing more attractive than a person who is happy just being who they are. Meg Hanlon offers personal service for make-up lessons and style advice. |
