He'd been a wildlife photographer, a TV presenter and even a puppeteer before he bought himself a video camera in the 80s, but it was only with his 2002 wartime horror Deathwatch that Michael J Bassett became a Brit director to reckon with. Now Shropshire's answer to Wez Craven has followed up his feature film debut with Wilderness, a survival horror about a group of teenage criminals dispatched to an island for an outward bound course that comes complete with one pyschotic killer.

Wilderness is released in UK cinemas on Friday 11th August 2006.
