"You'd Think So, Wouldn't You?" is a series of video installations and photographs representing conversations and monologues recorded over time focusing on identity. Garfield's work explores the gap between an individual's perception of their identity and the perceptions of others. The work deals with stereotypes examining issues of belonging from multiple viewpoints. Garfield will be showing a new video piece made in Southend this year. The work focuses on the memories of an East Londoner visiting Southend as a day tripper alongside the memories of a Southend resident who lives here currently. This piece of work explores past and present histories of Southend from two different view points. |
