"A reporter asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I said a 'rerrmote controoooled carrr' in my broadest Bristolian."

"My dad still blackmails me with the tape."

Ben has worked his way up at the station, from Morning West reporter to presenter. "I think people like the fact that I try and keep things lively and entertaining.

"One listener said I made her smile while she was sitting in rush hour traffic on the A4 at Brislington. "

"Tributes don't come higher than that do they!?" So what have been Ben's favourite stories to date?

"It doesn't get much better than one week last November. On the Monday I was at England's team hotel when they brought back the rugby world cup."

"On Wednesday I was stood on Filton's runway describing Concorde's final flight into Bristol. I felt very lucky that week."

Ben has swum with dolphins and skydived in New Zealand, watched football at Rio's Maracana stadium and drunk with the All Blacks at the Commonwealth Games in Malaysia.

But he's still got one burning ambition. "I can't wait to get a big hairy dog. A dog, a frisbee and the Downs.

Can life get better than that?"

You can listen to Ben on Morning West: Weekdays between 6am and 9am.
