It's the radio equivalent of a night standing at the bar in
the pub.
People come up, drop off a tasty morsel of information or tell
a story - often so wildly implausible that you know it can only
be true - down their pint and troll off, only to be replaced
by someone else with another story.
And then there are musical oddities and bizarre bits of trivia
to add into the mix something to lead us down another
trail.

loves being 'behind the mic' |
With
a musical spine that's mainstream but eclectic, the show starts
with a blank canvass every night.
'Shark's eyelids'
We try to weave a course through three hours of nightly
broadcasts without ever being prescriptive about where we want
to go.
"Yes,
there are signposts for listeners to follow but we never say
'this is the way were going, come with us or clear off'.
"The
truly blissful shows are those where we begin with stories about
people painting their cars and end up talking about sharks
eyelids.
"Were happy to talk about anything from The Battle
of Rourkes Drift to Ivor the Engine via Mr Pastry, The
Godfather and all-you-can-eat restaurants.
"We try to be zesty and have an opinion and our listeners
constantly pepper the show with contributions.
"It's a nightly enclave of anecdotage, rants, diatribes
and tomfoolery."
A long-time network television producer and scriptwriter Richard
now spends his afternoons writing for television and films
and his mornings behind the microphone.
