"I
must confess, l wanted to be a television cameraman," says Trevor.
"Whilst, like most of us over 50, the radio was THE big medium,
it never occurred to me to want to work in it."
Much later in his life he fell into the business purely by accident.
Firstly through Hospital Radio and then professionally on Bristol's
first Commercial Station, Radio West.
Trevor takes up the story:
Having gained my 'stripes' by working very hard, the BBC knocked
on my door twice.
Both times I declined. The time just wasn't right. Then in late
1997, Radio Bristol asked again. This time the timing was perfect.
I had arrived, at last.
I have to say that after being in the business for over 22 years
l still love every minute of my working day and life.
The team here at Radio Bristol and Somerset Sound are the best
in the business and l consider it an honour to be part of such
a wonderful team of people.
Sue, my wife, also works at the BBC but in Radio Four.
We have three children, Sam, Camilla and Joshua and live on
the banks of the Severn. |
