The Dalek army prepares to take over. 'Exterminate all humans.' |
'Daleks conquer and destroy, Daleks conquer and destroy...' |
The Doctor, deputy governor Quinn and Polly are being led to the cells when the guards find their way blocked by a Dalek. The Doctor urges them to make a quick retreat. |
Janley joins Bragen in his office. The rebellion is over, and Bragen now runs the colony. |
Bragen asks Janley to help him kill the rebels who have made him leader. |
Janley thinks it over and agrees... |
... only to realise Bragen was ready to kill her if she didn't obey him. |
The rebel Valmar has overheard their conversation. |
The Doctor's party is confronted by another Dalek in the corridor. |
The Doctor, Polly and Quinn use the distraction as an opportunity to escape from their guards. |
Valmar goes to the room where Ben is being held. |
He tells Ben that he's going to help him... |
... because Bragen has got too ambitious. |
 Bragen proclaims himself governor... |
... and announces that his predecessor was murdered by the rebels. |
Declaring martial law, he tells the people, 'We know who the murderers are.' |
As Ben listens to the announcement, the door opens. |
He is joined by the Doctor, Polly and Quinn. |
The Doctor's worried that the Daleks will soon begin destroying all life on the planet. |
He rushes off to try and solve the problem. |
Bragen's announcement has triggered the Dalek attack. |
 The exterminations begin. |
The Doctor walks into the middle of a Dalek firefight and quickly plays dead. |
Around them, the people of the colony are fighting the Daleks.... |
 ... and losing. |
The bodies of the dead begin to line the colony. |
In Lesterson's laboratory, Valmar is still fitting Daleks with guns. |
Valmar is not pleased to be joined by Janley. She says she no longer trusts Bragen - but thinks she can still use the Daleks. |
'We are your friends.' a Dalek agrees. Janley takes the Daleks with her. |
The Doctor throws himself into his quarters, trying to escape the Daleks. Kebble follows moments behind him... |
 ... and is exterminated. |
The colony is at war. Guards are fighting rebels, and the Daleks are killing everyone. |
A guard is shooting at a rebel barricade. |
He's killing quite a few rebels. Janley turns up with her loyal Daleks, and orders the guard exterminated. |
 The Daleks gladly oblige... |
... then turn on the colonists. Janley has been betrayed. |
Janley and Valmar turn to run as the Daleks open fire. |
The Doctor, Ben and Polly hide in Lesterson's laboratory. |
Lesterson himself has gone mad. |
He now marvels at the power of the Daleks. |
'Man's had his day - finished now.' |
Ben comforts Polly as a woman's dying scream is heard. |
Out in the corridors, the Dalek slaughter continues. |
Any attempt to fight back... |
... is met with extermination. |
Valmar is crouched over Janley's body. Quinn leads him quickly away. |
The Doctor, Quinn and Valmar plot to stike back against the Daleks. The Doctor figures the solution lies with corrupting their power supply. He heads off to the Dalek capsule. |
 Bragen is losing control. |
Most of the rebels are dead. |
Most of the guards are dead. |
Most of the colonists are dead. |
The Daleks continue to slaughter the survivors. |
Bragen broadcasts to the Daleks, offering them terms. |
 He's confronted by Quinn. |
Quinn forces Bragen to order his remaining guards to sacrifice themselves to the Daleks. It's the colony's only chance. |
The Doctor is trying to sabotage the Dalek's static power supply when he is interrupted by Daleks. |
While the Doctor hides, the Daleks discover the interference. |
Lesterson ducks out of hiding, offering himself to the Daleks. 'I am your servant. I gave you life.' 'Yes, you gave us life,' agrees the Dalek, killing him. Lesterson is betrayed (montage with audio) |
Lesterson's sacrifice has given the Doctor the chance he needed to activate his device. It doesn't work. |
Frantically, the Doctor tries again. |
Suddenly, the Daleks in the laboratory begin to scream. |
Smoke belches out of them... |
 ... and they explode. |
It's the same across the colony... |
... as the Daleks burn alive in their shells. |
The crisis over, Bragen decides it's time to seize power again from Quinn. |
He's shot by Valmar, falling dead by a burnt-out Dalek. |
The Doctor has saved the colony - but ruined their power supply. |
Stung by the colonists' ingratitude, the Doctor decides, 'I think we'd better get out of here... before they send us the bill.' |
Out in the mercury swamps, the charred remains of a Dalek... |
... stand guard over the TARDIS. |
Feebly, the Dalek's eye stalk rises to watch the TARDIS fade from view. |
