Deep in the Dalek spacecraft, Lesterson watches in horror. |
Beneath him is a Dalek factory, where Dalek mutants are fitted into their casings... |
... each one adding to the ranks of a Dalek army... |
... ready to emerge and destroy the colony. |
Lesterson is appalled at what he has found. |
He runs from the craft. |
Back in his laboratory he attempts to seal up the ship. |
His assistant Janley is unimpressed by his ravings. Lesterson switches off the Daleks' power. |
He tries to contact the Doctor, but discovers he is in prison. Lesterson plans on melting down the deactivated Daleks. |
Lesterson's stunned when one glides out from the craft - they aren't as reliant on his power as he thought. He runs from the laboratory. |
The Daleks decide to wait a while longer. 'We are not ready yet to teach these human beings the law of the Daleks.' |
Lesterson runs through the colony, looking for the Doctor. |
Janley returns to the laboratory, her colleague Kebble leading the Doctor's companion Polly. |
She's been taken hostage by Janley's rebels. |
Polly can't believe Janley trusts the Daleks to help the rebels take over the colony. |
Kebble takes Polly into the craft. |
Janley discovers the Daleks are laying cable to create their own power supply - static electricity. |
The Doctor and deputy governor Quinn are locked up in adjacent cells. |
The Doctor explains how the Daleks run off static electricity to an incredulous Quinn. It doesn't help that the Doctor is making noises with a glass of water. |
The Doctor is trying to generate the right note to break the sonic lock on his cell. |
He just doesn't have enough water. |
Lesterson bursts in, warning the Doctor that the Daleks are reproducing and fitting their own power supply. He's taken away by the guards. |
Calmly, the Doctor asks for a little more water... |
With the governor away, the Doctor and Quinn locked up, and the rebels working for him, Bragen has effectively gained control. |
He's angry to be disturbed by a ranting Lesterson. |
Lesterson is terrified of the Dalek servant in Bragen's office. |
He tries to persuade Bragen that the Daleks are plotting to take over the colony. |
Janley arrives, telling Bragen that Lesterson is suffering from stress. She leads him away. |
Polly watches as Valmar sets up the Dalek's power supply. |
She tries to persuade him that the Daleks can't be trusted by the rebels. |
Valmar is interested - he's concerned at how powerful the Daleks are. |
Polly begs him to listen: the Daleks aren't their friends. They have 'a kind of hatred for anything unlike themselves.' |
Kebble orders her to shut up. |
Out in the corridors, a Dalek is laying cable. |
Hensell, the colony's governor, has just returned from his trip. He's concerned at the way Bragen is asserting his authority. |
Hensell storms into his office, to find Bragen in it. |
Hensell demands an explanation from Bragen for his behaviour. |
Bragen calmly announces that he is now in charge of the colony. |
Hensell calls for the guards to take Bragen away. |
The guards, however, are now loyal to Bragen. |
 Hensell is furious. |
Bragen tries to persuade him to cooperate, but Hensell refuses. |
Bragen orders the guards away, and a Dalek enters. |
Bragen has something to show the governor. |
 Hensell isn't interested. |
 It's a Dalek gun. |
Nervously, Hensell watches as Bragen fits it to the Dalek. |
Bragen orders the Dalek to kill Hensell. He throws up his hands... |
... and is exterminated by the Dalek. |
Impressed, Bragen removes the gun from the obedient Dalek. 'Why do human beings kill human beings?' asks the Dalek. |
The Doctor and Quinn, having escaped from their cells, are creeping into Lesterson's laboratory. |
They watch as Valmar emerges from the capsule, going off to complete the Daleks' power supply. |
Inside, Kebble is holding Polly hostage. |
 Quinn and Kebble fight... |
Quinn knocks Kebble unconscious. The Doctor, Quinn and Polly run from the lab as Daleks emerge from the capsule. The Doctor blocks the doors with a wrench. |
The Daleks realise they are trapped in the laboratory... |
... and melt the doors. |
The Dalek army is waiting in the capsule while the human beings fight among themselves. |
'Then we will strike ... and Exterminate.' |
The Doctor, Quinn and Polly discover Hensell's body. |
The Doctor finds that Bragen is using Hensell's death as an excuse to declare martial law. |
Bragen orders them taken away. |
