All those suggesting walking as an alternative to driving should move to London where this is actually practical. In "mostly" rural Derbyshire most people NEED to drive.

Gaz Thatch
Do what I do walk! I haven't got the money to run a car and I've had to face up to it. If you can'f afford the fuel then don't go running to the first image consultant you know for advice. Simple.

Al
Another fine example of british mentality. Idiots.

Andy
Why is it all the OAP's, who normally have a quarter tank which lasts many weeks, who are filling up? I need fuel to get to work.

jeff French cornwall
What a farce ! Thanks to the media which includes the BBC the fuel protestors achieved their aim without having to stand out in the rain. The BBC southwest used the term'blockade' in their reports on numerous occassions despite the stated aim of peaceful demonstrations. This was largely responsible for the panic buying of fuel in the south west. When will the media ever learn !

Mike
What i can't understand is people saying "only buy what you need" short of storing cans of fuel how can you buy more than you need? You can only fill the tank to its capacity!

Bill Frearson
Its the english disease again all panic buying my solution make every one at the pumps spend £20 that wil stop the £5 fill ups

jim @ chesterfield
what a greedy selfish world in which we live at the first sign of a petrol shortage greedy people have to fill up to the max without a thought for anyone else.i realize there are some genuine cases but the vast majority are just filling up for the sake of it so they dont have to walk a 100 yards to the shops or walk the kids to school to these people i say shame on you and your greed does not affect police ambulance and fire services

Mitch
Cycle Quick exercise and no traffic and petrol just cycle mans Thats y were all gaining weight cuz we dont do exercise and cycling is relazing and refreshing and loose weght without really getting tired

craig, ilkeston
these people are COMPLETELY STUPID!!!!!!!!!! rushing to the pumps and panic buying.

commie.
It just goes to show what selfish people we have in our community. Get a life and walk or bike for a change!

Joe, Derby
What can I say, muppets, derbyshire folk are not the brightest in the barrel when it comes to situations like this! They should watch the news and get the real facts. The UK is awash with fuel, stop panic buying! your only giving the country more Vat profits just to tide them over the next 3 days of protests. Now there is a question! "Did the present government start the rumours"? You would be no good in a war, you lot!

MARK , Ripley
Who are these people? If there is to be a protest it would only last a day or two at most. It would not be like last time. By Friday everything will be back to normal. People must be having a laugh.

Ju Berry
I use a skateboard to get around on...and i'm just over 40 years of age!!! No fuel problems for me.

Chris Buxton
Keep panic buying, than the fools will give me time to spend at home with the family. But I do feel sorry for the people who need their car.

big dave
We pay some of the highest tax on fuel in the western world at 70%! I hope the blockades force this useless inept government to act and start listening for a change.. It's about time and long overdue..

Steve, Hilton.
If cars had to put a MINIMUM of £25.00 worth in, or pay the £25.00 anyway, it would stop some of the panic buyers, including the woman who put in £7.00 worth this morning!!!!

N robinson
I queued 45 minutes for petrol late last night, I had put a fiver in during the day because i needed it and wasnt going to panick about the situation, but when I saw the queue to the petrol station at night I thought ' well I better fill up because everyones obviously panicking and the local petrol stations are selling out very quickly.

Neil Joyce
When will people realise that by panic buying fuel, all they are achieving is to give the Govt it's increased tax revenue straight away! Drivers need to blockade Downing Street and try to force a change in thinking there - the petrol companies have no option but to pass on the increases in duty forced upon them by the Govt. They cannot offset it against their bottom line as that would upset their share price and cost the Directors their bonuses !!

chris
completely daft NO PETROL THEN WALK YOU HAVE LEGS USE THEM AND GET SOME EXCERISE

k cooper
i hope i can get some petrol as i look after a diabled lady and with out my car i cannot take her to hospital, people dont realize the problems they cause panic buying

Andy, Duffield
People should walk their kids to school then they wouldnt need to block up the pumps to get fuel for the school run!

paul handel (Swanwick)
typical england, panic at the first signs of rumour, dont forget the first snows will be arriving shortly and then we can all panic about the inch or two we get and bring the county to a standstill!!!!!!

Phil of Chadd
It's madness as usual. The first sign of a blockade and everyone panics. STUPID!!!

brian taylor
whats the point, as soon as you run out you have to fill up again. Morons !!!
