Complaint
A viewer objected to a BBC correspondent’s reference to “recent images appearing to show malnutrition of so many Palestinians in Gaza” on the grounds that it implied doubt about the reality of famine in Gaza. The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the BBC’s editorial standards of accuracy.
Outcome
As the words complained of occurred in a context which left no doubt about the grounds for concern about malnutrition in Gaza, the ECU saw no prospect that they would have misled viewers about the reality of the situation there.
