A listener complained this programme was biased in favour in Israel because it included no representation of Palestinian viewpoints. The ECU considered whether it met the standards for impartiality set out in the BBC Editorial Guidelines.
Outcome
The UN Security Council was due to discuss the situation of the Israeli hostages in Gaza later that day, and the programme focused on the hostage situation and its impact on Israel’s actions. In this context, impartiality did not require Palestinian viewpoints to be reflected, though they have been extensively represented elsewhere in the BBC’s coverage of the conflict, including on Radio Nan Gàidheal.
