ZAPCHAT: Name That Kitten

Midnight has had kittens! There are five of them and they’re all identical. Help! What am I going to call them and how will I tell them apart?

Figure caption,

Pretty hard to name them when they all look identical!

Figure caption,

I'm sure the cheeky fur-balls keep swapping their name-tags!

Figure caption,

YAY! I finally named them! They're all so different, I just needed to give myself time to get to know them.

Text on a colourful background. Text reads 'What are your pets' names, and how did you decide what to call them?'

Zapchat replies: From PurplePebble: I have a guinea pig called Nibbles. I don't really know how she got named though, it's hard to remember. From Maud: Well met, PurplePebble. It sounds like you have a mystery on your hands! Maybe she’s called Nibbles because she likes to nibble food, cardboard, lost socks..?
Zapchat replies: From Dramaticus: I would like a cat called Atticus. From Maud: Well met, Dramaticus. I think I can tell by your username why you want to call your cat Atticus. I like that name, it sounds dramatic and proud. Your cat would probably sit up very regally and meow for attention.
Zapchat replies: From CuteBlackCat: I have a cat called Arras but I didn't name him. He's called Arras because my parents found him in France in Arras so they called him Arras. I wasn't born then but we still have him and he's around 64 in cat years. From Maud: I was considering naming some of my cats after places instead, like Paris for sophistication, Alexandria for its library, or Florence for its beauty. But I think witchy names are better for my kittens. Wow, 64 years is a grand old age! I hope my kittens grow up to be familiars for just as long!
Zapchat replies: From Book reader dancer:I really want a pet Merlin (the smallest bird of prey) as it's really small, adorable and fun to watch it fly around! I would call is Atlas because I love the name! From Maud: Well met, Book reader dancer! I’ve heard other witching schools allow all kinds of animals as familiars, like toads, bats… or even owls! You could probably sneak a merlin into one of those academies and they wouldn’t even notice…
Zapchat replies: From Rabbitlover: I have a rabbit called Snowflake because she is white. It definitely makes it easier if you name them after their characteristics. Also how is Esmerelda? From Maud: Well met, rabbitlover. What an accurate name! Naming your animal after their characteristics is exactly what I did with my kittens and I think it’s the best way too! Esmerelda is doing well... At least, that’s what Sybil tells me.
Zapchat replies: From Whitefluffyarcticfox: Well met Maud! My cat is called Honey! She is a rescue cat and she was already named! I can see why her previous owners called her Honey, she is Honey coloured! From Maud: Well met, whitefluffyarcticfox! That’s a brilliant thing to do. Rescue animals need lots of love from their new owners, I know I’d find it confusing if someone changed my name, so good call on sticking with Honey!
Zapchat replies: From lovelyllama28: I have a rescue cat named Smudge because she has an adorable smudge on her nose. Like the kitten you named Fang, she is incredibly greedy! From Maud: Well met, lovelyllama28. Greedy cats are really cute, but you have to watch them or your potion ingredients could end up disappearing! Enid told me one time a cat ate some kippers for her spell while her back was turned, so I’ll be extra careful with Fang.
