- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, peeled and sliced
- 2 tins of tomatoes
- 500g turkey mince
- 2 tsp fennel seeds, crushed (optional)
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 onion, grated
- 2 sticks celery, grated
- 1 courgette, grated
- 2 eggs, whisked
- 3 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp parmesan, grated
- 2 tbsp veg oil, for frying
- 450g spaghetti
- Handful basil leaves
- Parmesan grated, as desired
Follow these steps to make easy and tasty turkey meatball spaghetti
For the tomato sauce:
Ask an adult to help heat the oil in a saucepan over a medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Add the tins of tomatoes. Leave to simmer gently for 15-20 minutes until thickened slightly and glossy. Transfer to an oven proof dish.
For the meatballs:
Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
Using clean hands, mix the mince, fennel seeds, carrot, onion, celery, courgette, eggs, breadcrumbs and oil together and shape into 6 balls.
Heat the oil in a frying pan over a high heat. Fry meatballs 2 or 3 at a time until they're browned all over. Place them on top of the tomato sauce in the oven proof dish. Repeat until all meatballs are browned.
Once all the meatballs are browned, bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
Method to serve:
While the meatballs and sauce are in the oven, cook spaghetti in a large pot of salted boiling water according to packet instructions.
Top spaghetti with meatballs and tomato sauce. Add some fresh basil leaves and a sprinkle of grated parmesan, if you like.
