The BBC reserves the right to request proof of age for entrants as well as parent’s or guardian’s consent and necessary state of health. Only one entry per person may be submitted. No joint entries will be allowed.

2. To enter the Competition entrants must:

• Design a Supercar of the Future

• Give details about how their Supercar is powered and what materials it is made from

• Give details of one outstanding feature on their design explaining why they are proud of it

• Submit an A4 drawing of their design

3. Entry is via the entry form only which can be downloaded from the Blue Peter website (www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/bluepeter).

4. If using a computer programme to design an entry, the design must still be all the entrant's own work. Materials such as clip art or photographs/internet images will disqualify the entry.

5. If entrants submit more than one entry, we will judge the first entry received and disregard the others.

6. The entry must be the entrant's own original work and not defame nor breach any copyright or contain anything that could be deemed offensive.

7. All submissions must include: the entrant’s name, age, date of birth, address including postcode, parent/guardian’s name and a contact telephone number which can be filled in on the appropriate sections of the website entry form. Entrants should ask their parent/guardian's permission to enter the Competition and ensure that they have read the Terms and Conditions. This must be confirmed by completing the tick box on the entry form. The telephone number provided must allow you to be contacted between Monday 15th June and Friday 26th June 2020.

8. All entrants must enter the Competition by submitting their design and entry form by post to:

9. Entries must be RECEIVED by no later than 1pm on Wednesday 10th June 2020. Late, incomplete or illegible entries will be disqualified. The BBC cannot take any responsibility for any technical failure or malfunction, including but not limited to any affecting postal services, which may result in any entry being delayed, lost or not properly registered or recorded. The BBC will not be able to return entries. Please check on Royal Mail website for delays in postal services caused by COVID-19. If you can’t obtain a ‘Large Letter’ stamp, two First Class stamps are sufficient postage for an A4 sized envelope.

10. By submitting an entry for the Competition, the entrant’s parent/guardian are deemed to have given permission for the entry to be published free of charge by the BBC Group and McLaren in all media, including television, print and internet, for all purposes as it wishes. Blue Peter, the BBC and McLaren may wish to display entries containing an entrant’s forename, age and town or county, in all of the above instances working in line with the BBC’s Child Protection Policy, to prevent jigsaw identification of any entrant.

The BBC's conditions on contributions apply to the Terms and Conditions and can be found http://www.bbc.co.uk/terms/personal.shtml#5.

11. For editorial reasons, it is necessary for the BBC to acquire ownership of all rights in the winning Supercar design. It is a condition of entry that the winner’s parent/guardian will sign any additional documentation in order to assign all rights to the BBC and to waive all moral rights the winner may have in the winning design. If you have any concerns about this requirement, we would advise you not to enter. For the avoidance of doubt, the clay work of the Winning Design produced by McLaren for this competition shall be and remain the property of McLaren.

12. All entries will be judged in the first instance by senior members of the Blue Peter production team. This first judging panel will decide which entries should be put forward to the second stage of judging. The first judging round will select the 10 best entries for each of the following age categories:

Category 1: Entrants aged 6-8

Category 2: Entrants aged 9-11

Category 3: Entrants aged 12-15

For each age category 3 back-up entries will be ranked in order of merit to act as standbys to replace any entries that in the verification process need to be excluded from the competition.

13. 30 verified entries in total will go through from the first round of judging to the second round of judging.

14. The second judging stage will look at the 10 best entries for each age category (30 entries in total) and be carried out by a judging panel of representatives from Blue Peter (including Richie Driss, Blue Peter presenter and Ellen Evans, Editor of Blue Peter as Head Judge) There will also be representatives from McLaren and an expert in cars from Top Gear Magazine. From the 30 entries, the panel will choose the top entry in each age category (three entries in total). From the top three entries the winner will be chosen and the runners up will be ranked in order of merit.

Criteria

15. All entries will be judged against the following criteria:

Design – The Supercar design must be original, imaginative and striking – we’re asking you to pick one outstanding feature on your vehicle, so make sure you think carefully about why this feature is important.

Creative/Innovative – Make sure you research and suggest creative materials to make your vehicle super-efficient on the track and think carefully about how your vehicle will be powered and what impact your car will have on the environment.

Unique - The design must be unique and it must not replicate any existing design or feature design elements or logos from any car maker or manufacturer. You may use the Blue Peter ship in your design should you wish, but this will not be a deciding factor in the judging process.
