Blue Peter Christmas Cracker Competition Terms and Conditions

Blue Peter is giving one lucky viewer the chance to spend a magical day at the recording of the Blue Peter Christmas show! Please read these terms and conditions before entering.

Competition Terms and Conditions

These are the CBBC Blue Peter’s Terms and Conditions for Blue Peter’s Christmas Cracker competition.

1. The competition is open to all residents of the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man aged 6 to 16, except the close relatives of BBC employees, BBC Group Company employees, Monterosa employees or anyone connected with the competition or the particular prize being offered. Permission to enter will be required from a parent or guardian. Proof of permission, identity and eligibility may be required. The BBC reserves the right to disqualify any entrant or winner who breaches these rules.

2. The competition will run from Thursday 6th December 2018 at 1730hrs to Monday 10th December 2018 at 1200hrs (noon). Entries outside of the period will not count. No other method of entry will be accepted. Only one entry is allowed per entrant, any additional entries will be disregarded.

3. Your child / ward will be asked a question with three possible answers. The correct entries will be pooled. The winner will be selected at random from the pool of correct entries.

4. The parent or guardian of entrants must provide their name, telephone number, the first name of the child, the child's date of birth and their hometown. Entrants must be available via the contact information they have provided. If, after reasonable attempts a winner cannot be contacted, that entrant’s participation in the competition ends and another winner will be selected at random from the pool of correct entries.

5. The winner will be required to be available for filming with Blue Peter at a date to be confirmed with the production team. This will take place between 11th December 2018 and 18th December 2018, subject to production confirmation. Given this, after the winner is selected at random, their parent or guardian will be contacted on the number provided to give their consent.

6. The prize consists of: an Orange competition badge, props from the set of The Dumping Ground and the opportunity to come to the Blue Peter Christmas live show on Thursday 20th December 2018 at the studios in Salford.

7. The prize is stated as above. There is no cash alternative and the prize cannot be sold or transferred in any circumstances. The winner will be notified on Monday 10th December 2018 between 1200 hrs (noon) and 1300.

8. The BBC's decision as to entrants taking part and winners is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into.

9. The first names of winner will be made public.

10. The BBC reserves the right to: (i) amend these terms and conditions including, but not limited to, opening and closing times; (ii) disqualify any entrant who breaches the rules, including but not limited to being ineligible to enter, or has acted fraudulently in any way and; (iii) cancel the competition, at any stage, if in its opinion it is deemed necessary or if circumstances arise outside its control.

11. The BBC, their sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any server, system, network or service provider or otherwise which may result in any entry not being properly logged or not recorded.

12. Parents or guardians will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them when registering.

13. The competition is run by the BBC. It complies with the BBC’s Code of Conduct for Competitions (which can be found at www.bbc.co.uk/editorialguidelines/guidelines/appendix2). The applicable law is that of England and Wales.

What will we collect and how will we use it?

The BBC will collect and process the personal information that we need to run our competition. The personal information that we will collect includes: the first name, date of birth and hometown of the child that is submitting an entry and the child’s parent/guardian’s name and phone number.

The BBC is the “controller” of this information. This means that the BBC decides what your personal information is used for and the ways in which it is processed. We have a legitimate interest to process the personal information: to administer our competition and contact the parent / guardian of the successful child. We have considered the impact of our processing and we are satisfied that we collect the minimum information necessary to administer our competition. We will randomly select a winner and then contact the parent /guardian using the contact details that you provide to us to ensure that parental approval was obtained

How long will retain your information?

If you are successful, the BBC will retain your personal information for a period of 2 years for regulatory purposes. The personal information of unsuccessful entrants will be deleted promptly once the winner has been selected.
