One
textile mill in Bradford is seeing business boom, partly because
it is doing its bit in the so-called war on terror.
Wyedean
Weaving in the famous village of Haworth (above) makes military
garments, which are shipped all over the world from the Worth Valley,
flying in the face of those who say Bradford's mills are on their
last legs. From here military uniforms, badges and ribbons go all
over the world and order books are full. Ribbons for the Queen's
Golden Jubilee and cloth for army sergeants' soldier sashes are
amongst the many materials produced by the company.
David
Wright is the 80-year-old chairman of Wydean Weaving and he is proud
of the fact that the company has made a profit for every one of
its 150 years. He believes that wars tend to be good for business
because they often give rise to commemorative medals and demand
for his company's ribbon.
