In 2005, she reappeared as mother of the youngest cub we had ever filmed, Toto. After following their fortunes for several weeks and seeing Toto grow in confidence and skill, it was devastating when we lost track of him. For several days in a row we saw Honey alone, and knowing Toto was too young to survive on his own, we knew he must have been killed. Perhaps he had been taken by a lion or hyenas, we'll never know. We later heard that Honey had been seen mating again, leading us to hope she'd have a new litter when we next returned to film.
