Kamla is finding it hard without the rest of the family at her Diwali meal with Jai, and wonders wistfully whether they're enjoying themselves without her. The situation is made worse when Jai announces that he's going to the pub afterwards. She's dismayed - she wanted them to light Diyas together. He agrees to drink no alcohol, and as he leaves she lights a Diya on her own, and says a prayer for her son.
At the Chauhans the meal's over and everyone is reminiscing about last year in Leicester . When Krishan knocks a dish over Rajan offers to take the children for a walk, and they leave Rita and Pradeep clearing up. Rita is still fretting over the complicated situation they find themselves in, but Pradeep reassures her that these things have a way of sorting themselves out.
At the pub Jai gets a call from Spike who's still pressuring him for a decision, and he stalls for time, saying he'll give him answer tomorrow.
Meanwhile Rajan has taken the children to see an overjoyed Ba. They give her cards and presents and she insists they eat, so Krishan and Arun tuck in willingly while Roopa tries her best to force some more food down. The atmosphere is happy and relaxed, but changes instantly when Jai walks in. He's clearly had a drink, and the uncomfortable guests hastily make their excuses and leave without acknowledging their uncle....
