Question and AnswerI'm a rapper and have been working on tracks for a couple of years now. I get a good response to my music, but I find it hard to get live shows. How should I go about making a name for myself on the live circuit?

To answer your question in one word, HUSTLE!
You either have music hot enough and with enough exposure to make promoters want to book you or you get out there and beg, or do whatever, to be given a chance to perform.
Pick up flyers, read magazines, find out the spots and go play people your music and convince them to put you on. If you're that good, word will soon get round about your performances and you should see a result.
Hit the open mic spots and represent. Failing that find a good manager or booking agent (they book live dates and string together tours) and get them to do the hustling for you. It'll cost you 15-20% of your earnings but should end up a good investment overall.
