'Stop the dealers, stop the crime' is the message from police who want communities to tackle the problem of drugs and related crime.

The initiative asks the public to contact police or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 if they have any information about the misuse of drugs in London.

Posters spelling out the impact that drug crimes, such as violence and robbery, have on the city will be appearing at train stations, on the underground and in car parks.

Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur said: "Information gathered as a result of our advertising campaign will assist police operational activity by enabling us to disrupt drug markets and arrest dealers and those that supply them.

"By working with police and calling Crimestoppers anonymously with drugs intelligence the public can help us rid the streets of dealers".
